2007年度诺贝尔文学奖得主多丽丝·莱辛（Doris Lessing，1919―），是当代英国最重要的作家之一。 莱辛也被誉为继伍尔夫之后最伟大的女性作家，并几次获得诺贝尔文学奖提名以及多个世界级文学奖项，其风格独特多变，思想深邃，观点犀利，见解新颖，极具挑战性。《金色笔记》（1962年）奠定了她在西方文坛的地位，这也被公认为是其代表作。这本大作叙述手法已有别于现代主义所强调的意识流，全书不分章节，由一个故 事，5本笔记构成。该故事题为《自由女性》，女主角为安娜。故事似乎是相互连贯的，但莱辛将它分为五部分，每部分之间，依次插入黑、红、黄、蓝四种笔记。 虽然此书是安娜的成长纪录，但内容也涉及殖民主义、种族主义、共产主义与男女间的爱情。显然，这本小说内容丰富，兼具感性与知性。

Anna is a writer, author of one very successful novel, who now keeps four notebooks
. In one, with a black cover, she reviews the African experience of her earlier years. In a red one she records her political life, her disillusionment with communism. In a yellow one she writes a novel in which the heroine relives part of her own experience. And in a blue one she keeps a personal diary. Finally, in love with an American writer and threatened with insanity, Anna tries to bring the threads of all four books together in a golden notebook.
