“剑桥中国史”丛书是世界上极具影响的国外研究中国历史的权威著作,也是国际汉学研究的优秀成果。此套丛书计划出版16卷。丛书各卷皆由国外知名学者担当 主编,卷内各章节亦由研究有素的专家撰写,并注意吸收各国学者的研究成果,反映了国外中国史研究的水平和动向。截至目前剑桥大学出版社已陆续出版15卷, 中国社会科学出版社作为此套丛书中文简体版惟一版权享有人业已翻译出版了11卷,第9卷《剑桥中国清代前期》正在翻译校订中。已出版各卷包括: 《剑桥中国秦汉史》、《剑桥中国隋唐史》、《剑桥中国辽西夏金元史》、《剑桥中国明代史(上)》、《剑桥中国明代史(下)》、《剑桥中国晚清史 (上)》、《剑桥中国晚清史(下)》、《剑桥中华民国史(上)》、《剑桥中华民国史(下)》、《剑桥中华人民共和国史(1949-65年)》、《剑桥中华 人民共和国史(1966-82年)》。
The Cambridge History of China is a major Chinese History in English language. When complete it will comprise 15 volumes, volumes 2, 5 and 9 published as two books each, containing 18 books of about 800 pages each, making together a History of China in about 12,000 pages. It was written under the direction of Denis C. Twitchett. Publication began in 1979, and the 13th volume is expected as of December 2008[update] to be published in April 2009.[1] A Chinese version is available.
A separate volume, The Cambridge History of Ancient China by Michael Loewe and Edward L. This is supposed to cover cultural and economic topics related to the Sui and Tang Dynasties). * Volume 5 - The Sung Dynasty and its Precursors, 907 - 1279 (edited by Twitchett and Paul Jakov Smith). Published in May 2009. * Volume 6 - Alien Regimes and Border States, 910 - 1368 (edited by Twitchett and Herbert Franke). This covers the northern states of the Khitan, the Jurchen, and the Mongols. Published January 1995. * Volume 7 - The Ming Dynasty, 1368 - 1644, Part I (edited by Frederick W. Mote and Twitchett). This covers the political history of the Ming.
